Borges declares Vintage 2015

Sep 27, 2017

Borges Wines announces the launch of Borges Vintage Port 2015. Borges Vintage is only produced in exceptional years, the last Classic Vintage having been declared by Borges in 2007.

The year 2015 was one of great challenges, given the weather conditions faced by the region, which were only overcome by the rigorous and detailed care undertaken at the vineyard. The expertise in choosing the exact moment for the grape harvest, combined with the selection of the best fields and finest grapes from Quinta da Soalheira, allied to batch management, in order to preserve the style and identity of each grape variety, allowed the creation of this Vintage of seductive character and unique density.

The small harvest resulting from a very dry Spring and Summer gave rise to higher quality grapes that are exceptional in terms of sanitary condition. Balanced maturation and extraction, accompanied by long fermentation, give Borges Vintage Port 2015 intensity, density, aromatic complexity and firm and voluminous tannins that complement its structure.

Intensely ruby in colour, Borges Vintage Port 2015 has a young and fresh nose marked by the presence of eucalyptus and menthol notes, with hints of mature black plum. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a balanced sweetness and acidity, perfectly conveying the aromatic sensations that persistently linger in the mouth.

An excellent port to be consumed young but which will continue to reveal all of its potential for many more years to come.
